Xã Phong Nha, tỉnh Quảng Trị
Located deep within the core zone of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, Son Doong Cave is recognized as the largest natural cave in the world, with a volume of 38.5 million cubic meters, large enough to fit a 40‑story skyscraper and even sustain its own localized weather system. Discovered by a local resident, Ho Khanh, in 1990, and later surveyed and announced to the world by the British-Vietnamese Cave Research Association in 2009, Son Doong is not only a remarkable geological wonder in Vietnam but also a global icon of adventure tourism.
The Son Doong Cave Expedition has been exclusively operated by Oxalis Adventure since 2013. Designed for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and physically fit travelers, the journey lasts 6 days and 5 nights, including 4 days and 3 nights of trekking through primary jungles, crossing rivers and streams, navigating technical cave terrain, and camping inside caves. Each group is limited to a maximum of 10 participants and supported by a professional team of more than 30 staff members, including safety experts, guides, rangers, chefs, and porters.

The highlight of the expedition lies not only in witnessing the immense scale of the world’s largest cave, with a 252‑meter‑deep primeval jungle growing inside, dramatic dolines that create surreal lighting effects, and extraordinary underground formations, but also in the unique experience of camping underground, admiring giant stalactites and stalagmites, encountering rare endemic species, and conquering the 90‑meter “Great Wall of Vietnam.” Visitors will also have the opportunity to visit Doong Village, home to the Bru-Van Kieu ethnic community, to learn about local life closely connected to the surrounding nature.

Due to the challenging nature of the tour, participants are required to have good physical fitness and trekking experience. The tour operates annually from January to August and is limited to approximately 1,000 visitors per year to protect the cave’s pristine environment.
